Tour It Thursday: A Texas Tudor with 2 Story Library, Stained Glass Windows, and a wall made from a Belgium Confessional.

Howdy everyone! I'm so happy to announce a new series I have underway here at Major Hoff Takes A Wife. Taking place every week, Tour it Thursday will highlight recent home builds in my area. These will come from all price points, and are here to inspire you as you create the home you desire. On the last Thursday of the month I will open up a link party where you can showcase your home tour, or even simply a room tour.

I picked an Ahhhhh-mazing house to kick things off with. This castle-esque house is located in a  rural area on a bit of acreage. It is somewhat unassuming from the outside, but when you step in side--it will blow your socks off!
Texas European Style House Outside
The house was recently built during my tour and still had finishing touches (like landscaping) left.
The builder is Ellis Homes out of College Station, Texas.

The owner passed this info onto me: The church windows in the tower(windows on top) came out of a church in Pennsylvania. We had them re-leaded and reframed....and those windows are how the house became a Tudor.
Front door Entrance
The arched front door gives a little hint to what will come next.
Dining Room Ceiling with chandelier
Off to the right is the dining room. The chandelier is HUGE. The ceiling was meticulously hand painted by the designer- Desiree Engram of DSI Designs. The owner only had wonderful things to say about Desiree, saying, "She literally drew the plans for this house and designed every inch inside and out." The ceiling reminded me so much of St. Chapelle Cathedral in Paris, France.
Herringbone floor
Back in the entry way, you notice the wood floors that are set in a pattern. When you look up, you notice this rosette treatment on the ceiling:
Entry Way ceiling with amazing details
The entry way opens to the living room that is simply stunning.
Confessional Wall on living room side with built in tv area
The wall was made from a confessional that came out of a church in Belgium. The whole thing was purchased in La Grange, TX at Old World Antiques.
Living room arched ceiling with amazing light fixture
View of the ceiling.
Stained Glass windows from Living room side with arched ceiling
On one wall, there is a set of doors to go out on the back patio. There are stain glass windows of coats of arms at the very top. They were simply stunning to look at.
Outdoor Patio area with stained glass
The doors and windows from the patio side.
The Kitchen is just as amazing, and a cook's dream!
Kitchen with 2 islands Butcher block island
Note the 2 oversized islands (the first one didn't even fit in the picture!) and the refrigerator/freezer that is hiding behind wood paneled "walls".
Black kitchen Island with Butcher block top
A close up of the black island with a wooden butcher block countertop. I believe the wood has a story, but it is escaping me now.
Agate Counter with hammered sink basin
The second island had a countertop that was made from Agate stones (from South Africa I believe). It was lit from below with LED lighting and was truly a marvel. I loved the hammered sink basin.
Interior Room Doorway
Some of the interior doors were arched like the front door. I love the design in this one. So unique! This led to one side of the house.
On the other side of the house was the Master Suite. I didn't get any pics of bedrooms, but I did get some of the spacious master bath.
Vanity from side view
It features double vanities with the agate countertops.
Bathroom Vanity built in taht are amazing
Detail of Master Bath Vanity
Close up of the woodwork. I just loved these little chandelier sconces too!
Master bath soaking tub
The bathtub looked very cool in the space!
One of the unique spaces in the house was the 2 story library. I could spend a lot of time in here!
Two story library spiral staircase
A spiral staircase to take you to the 2nd floor landing. Built in bookshelves line the walls.
Starry Sky ceiling in 2 story library
Looking up from the first floor, a recreation of Starry Night graces the ceiling above.
Library Top Rail looking down
Looking down from above.
This house is so full of fun, unique details. Even as you leave, you are left with a beautiful thought etched above the door…….
("The Lord is with you wherever you go")
Verse over Front Door leaving house
I hope you enjoyed this tour (sorry for the iPhone pics in this one, most will use DSLR pictures). Be sure to stop by next Thursday to see another fun house!

  1. This is a fancy pants house! I could live just in the kitchen and library. I'd probably get lost in he rest. I love that agate lit from underneath. I've seen it in the design stores, but I've never seen in in a house. Thanks for the tour.
