I'm so happy to announce that I am part of this fabulous Halloween Bash Blog Hop! Don't you love having all of these awesome bloggers and their projects in one place? I can't get over how creative everyone is!
Today, I'm bringing you a tutorial on how to make a super simple DIY wood pennant banner for your fireplace that is Halloween themed. This project couldn't be any easier. It's also inexpensive, fast and super cute!
To make this cutie, I started with these inexpensive precut triangles from Michael's craft store. I believe they were 79 cents a piece, plus 40% off. I purchased a bunch last spring. I love that they had the holes drilled and everything!
I used my cricut to cut out triangles that were slightly smaller than the wooden triangles. I also used a scallop edge on them because I thought that added a nice touch. The tan and black polka dot paper was so cute!
I used orange card stock to cut out the letters to spell HALLOWEEN. I then glued the paper onto the wood and then the letters on top. I used plain old Elmers glue, but in order to make sure they stuck and that there were no bumps or curling, I placed a heavy book over them for about a half hour.
While the triangles were drying, I got to work on this guy. I found the spider and the web on Lori Whitlock's Webpage. She has some of my most favorite SVG's! I modified her design to get rid of the eyes and to just cut the shape of the spider. I then glued googlie eyes on him!
I ran regular twine through the letters and didn't even have to knot them off. The web was just woven through the twine as well.
For the spider, I merely folded it over and used scotch tape. I think this whole project took less than 30 minutes from start to finish. I really like how cute it looks on our mantle.
It wasn't easy to get a photo of though! My kiddos prefer fun and happy fall themed decorations so we tried to make it kid friendly and cute too boot. What do you think?Don't forget about the blog hop! 110+ ideas! WOW!
