Pennant Banners are everywhere this year! I love the shape and the colors they provide! My friend Jenn, over at 100 Directions is offering some awesome printables for free over on her blog right now. They are so incredibly cute and darling! And did you catch the free part? I decided to use one of her offerings, the doll size black and white pennant printable to make this super cute pillow. It is no sew, takes about 30 minutes and is so easy to make. Anyone can make this, no sewing skills needed! I’m gonna show you step by step exactly how I made this cute as a button pillow!
Things you will need for the project:
- ribbons and/ or ric rac
- a blank pillow cover
- printable iron on fabric sheets (I used Printed Treasures inject printable iron on fabric)
- Jen Goode’s FREE Halloween Printables
I printed out the Halloween Mini Sign Banner. I decided to use the little triangles for the happy and the bigger ones for Halloween.
I played around for a bit with placement. Once I decided where it was going to go, I ironed down the pennant letters. Next, I used iron on adhesive to attach the ribbons and the ric rac. You could also use fabric glue. If you are afraid of your ribbons fraying, I recommend using fray check.
Because I wanted a more finished look, I wrapped the ric rac around the pillow case so that it would have clean edges.
To finish off the pillow I added stacked buttons on each end of the banners. I used my hot glue gun for these.
Insert your pillow form and you are all set!
What do you think? Easy enough? Have you used iron on fabric before? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I’m not the only one that used the printables to create a fun craft! A bunch of awesome & talented bloggers each made something unique from them. You will not want to miss out on their projects!

Very cute, I love anything with bunting (is that what you call it in the US too or is that just a very English word for it?)
