Major Hoff Takes A Wife || Top 10 Posts of 2014

Wow! Can you believe that 2015 is already upon us? How did that happen? 2014 was a wonderful year for the Hoff family.  We had the opportunity to travel overseas and across the US. The hubs and I kicked off the year by celebrating in Germany, and during the summer we took the boys to California to the chapel where we were married. We also took a trip to Illinois to visit my parents. We watched the boys play baseball games, football games, run in cross country meets and play in the orchestra. My oldest started high school (and we survived the first semester!), and at one point in time we had 2 of the 4 boys with broken arms (yes, at the same time). In the second half of 2014, I decided to kick the blog up a notch and can’t believe how well that has gone. I could not have done any of it without you, my lovely —lovely readers. You are what makes this all possible and it warms my heart when I see each of your comments, pins, or social media shares. I still get tickled when I think that people actually read what I put out there!!! I am extremely blessed!
Here is a look back on the top posts for 2014 (with fingers crossed that 2015 is just as awesome!)!!!!

10. Entry Way Secretary Desk Makeover for Clutter Control

Secretary desk in entry way
I posted several furniture makeovers this year, and this one was the winner of the most page views. It is still one of my favorite pieces. It’s a great place to drop keys and to hide the mail when entering from our front door. The hardware added a nice touch to finish it off.

9. My Old Sewing Studio

Bernina Serger in Sewing studio
I was so thrilled when Angie of the Country Chic Cottage suggested a craft room hop! I had recently switched rooms, so I actually showcased my previous craft room, which was primarily my sewing studio. I was selling quilts and other sewn items on Etsy before and this meet my needs as a seamstress. I’ve since switched rooms and am working on creating a craft room that meets all my crafting needs (hint hint—lot’s of organization). So look for that post coming in 2015. Until then, you can view my sewing studio here.

8. Salted Caramel Chocolate Shortbread Bars

Decandant treats for Christmas
Perfect in the fall, perfect in the spring, perfect for gift giving to friends at Christmas time— these yummy dessert bars are good all year long! One of my absolute favorite recipes. I may make a batch today! Find the recipe here.

7. Favorite Free Fonts for Fall

Fallfonts
Geared to the autumn season of falling leaves, orange pumpkins and football season, these fonts are worthy of love all year long.

6. New Sink Basin Install

New sink with single drain
We started with an ugly 2 basin stainless steel sink and upgraded to this single basin sink which I still love. This was one of the harder DIY projects I tackled, but I am so glad I did. I smile every time I see that white sink, and the big basin makes doing dishes a dream. The plumbing was the hardest part, but with some trial and error, we figured it out. See my tutorial here.

5. Easy To Sew Snow White Peasant Dress

Snow White Peasant Dress Easy Halloween Costume
Although I initially made this for my neighbor’s daughter to wear on Halloween, it has become a year round hit. I should have known, given that little girls love to dress up as princesses! The tutorial is based off one of my favorite patterns by my friend Jen of Tie Dye Diva Designs. I just slightly added design elements and came out with this gem. See the full tutorial here.

4. Moen Walden Faucet Install

Before AfterMoenFaucet
Not only did we replace the sink basin, but I actually replaced my kitchen faucet as well. When Moen asked me to do a review of the Walden faucet, I jumped at the chance. My old faucet was on it’s last leg and water was going anywhere. Once I saw the beautiful faucet, I knew that the sink needed to go too. I still adore the faucet. A year later it still looks brand spanking new. It’s easy to clean and looks so elegant. You can see how we installed it here.

3. Free Fonts For July

July Favorite Fonts Major Hoff Takes A Wife
Yes, this is the second font post that made the Top 10 list. This tells me that my readers are font junkies just like me! Just like the Fall fonts, I use these fonts year round. The canoeing font and Daisies font are some of my all time favorites. You can find all these fun fonts here.

2. Triple Chocolate Peanut Clusters

Need a chocolate fix A family favorite Peanut clusters
I posted this scrumptious recipe 3 weeks ago and it has already shot to second place on the top 10 list. So my readers must really love the chocolate/peanut butter flavor combo. Who wouldn’t? Plus they are so easy to make! A family favorite for years, you will want to add this to your recipe book. Find the recipe here.

1. Easy 5 Minute Black Bean Dip

Easiest Black bean dip in less than 5 minutes
I posted this recipe on the blog as a whim. What a whim! The number one post!!!! It’s still one of the easiest things I make and it has saved my day many times. This delicious dip is ridiculously easy to make, and most people will have all 3 ingredients on hand. Try it and tell me what you think! Find the recipe here.
So what do you think? If you are a regular reader, did your favorite make the top 10 list? Which one is your favorite. I’d love it if you left a comment to tell me!
Cheers to 2015!
