There are some nights when we are in a hurry, and my kids might need something wholesome and filling, but I don't have time to cook. Or days when I need to fill my tummy before an appointment early in the morning and I need to eat - and eat fast. There are times I'm traveling and I need food that is portable, doesn't need to be refrigerated and can sustain me through the day.
Lately, my go to snack has been Cheerios. I love that they have so many different flavors, require no refrigeration, and can be eaten in a jiffy! Are you a fan of the classic Cheerios? Have you tried some of the new varieties?
I remember eating Cheerios as a kid, so I was thrilled when they introduced their gluten free versions. If you'd like to learn more about that, click HERE
So do you eat Cheerios the old classic way? Or do you mix it up? I literally mix it up.
I love making a trail mix with Cheerios. It is so easy to do, and the snack mix will last me quite a while.
I can bag it up and have it in my purse for days I'm out and about.
Or I can just have it hanging around in the house.
My "classic recipe" is the following:
Gluten Free Cheerios Trail Mix
- 3 cups classic Cheerios
- 3 cups Multi-Grain Cheerios
- 2 cups marshmallows
- 1 cup gluten free pretzels
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup almonds
So simple! Other add on's I like to throw in:
- *Dried Cranberries
- *Dried banana chips
- *White chocolate covered gluten free pretzels
- *cinnamon chip morsels
What kind of mix would you make? I'd love to hear what you'd add in! Leave a comment below and let me know!
