Fixer Upper Inspired Holiday House Tour - Major Hoff Takes A Wife

Fixer Upper Inspired Holiday House Tour

Welcome to my 2016 Holiday House Tour.

This years tour is

An amazingly simple 2016 Holiday House Tour inspired by Fixer Upper. Features classic colors: red, green and white with items purchased in Waco. CUTE!

Things have been quiet around here on the blog front lately, and my apologizes. I spent some time this week getting our house ready for Christmas. I am running behind (naturally! Because when am I not?).

This year I went with classic Christmas colors of red, green and white. Everything is decorated around a few pieces I found while visiting Magnolia Market last month when my mom was in town. Fixer Upper inspired this Holiday house tour!

However, it’s a real house with 4 boys, 2 dogs, a budget, and no professional decorator. HA! I do the best I can. I hope that this will inspire you as well. The best news is that I’m not doing this alone!

A big shout out to Chloe over at Celebrate and Decorate for organizing an ahhhhhhmazing Holiday Home Tour Blog Hop. You don't want to miss out on any of these!!! The list of creative bloggers who are participating can be seen when you scroll down.

Let’s jump right in to the mantel! These sweet little galvanized mini pots were picked up while visiting waco. I grabbed the plant markers while I was at it, and simply used vinyl on my Cricut® to cut out JOY. You can find my tutorial on transferring vinyl HERE. How fun is that snowflake? I also used glittered vinyl for the “Merry and Bright” on the galvanized ornament which I picked up from Michaels®.

The wreath was actually my first purchase. I bought it from the Pottery Barn outlet when I went back for my 2 week check up after my first brain surgery. It was a total clearance steal!

The banner and the pompoms are Target Dollar spot scores. The red ticking banners were plain, so my Cricut® came to the rescue again.

Boston terrier with christmas ticking

This little guy wanted to get in on all the action.

Red, green and white classic Christmas decor

Our tree for this year. Classic Christmas colors. I wanted fun and bright and cheerful. Last Christmas was somber around here, and I wanted JOY reflected in this years.

Extra long red ticking pillow for the holidays

Always sleeping on the job! See that long ticking pillow behind him? You won’t believe how I created that! Look for a tutorial next week!

Fixer Upper Inspired Holiday Home Tour Dining Room

Moving on to the dining room. More Target Dollar spot decor. You can see I used my long dough bowl from Round Top. I’ve stuffed it with pine leaves and cotton. Cotton was huge at Magnolia Market and all the stores in Waco.

Fixer Upper Inspired Holiday Home Tour Table and buffet

The table setting is still a work in progress. I gathered some floral picks I had and came up with an impromptu arrangement. Also impromptu is my chandelier who wanted to make a statement by having some bulbs out.

Fixer Upper Inspired buffet for Christmas

The sign is so fun and perfect for a kitchen. But it’s not really a sign. That was a dish towel I purchased in Waco at The Findery! I loved it the minute I saw it! I actually used temporary spray adhesive to attach it to a frame I already had hanging around.

Fixer Upper Inspired Holiday Home Tour with sugar cookies

It wouldn’t be a proper holiday buffet without cookies right?

Fixer Upper Inspired galvanized cake stand

Can’t forget cupcakes too! I love this galvanized cake stand. It says Fixer Upper style all over it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my tour today. Be sure to stop by and visit all the participants for the Holiday Home Tour Blog Hop!

  1. It's Kristy from Starfish Cottage (Blogger always signs me in as my daughter, Hayley for some reason!?) Wonderful job on all your holiday decor! Everything looks so festive and beautiful- I especially love all of your collections. Its been so fun blog hopping with you again this week- Merry Christmas from sunny Florida!

  2. Sara, I love your stained pallet with the wreath. Very cool. I also have 3 of those little galvanized tin cups (I bought mine a few years ago at a tent sale.) I noticed you have a Boston Bull Terrier. That is the dog I had growing up. Your buffet table with the cookies is so inviting. I'd love to have one. Are you in Waco? My son lives there and I could walk to Magnolia from his apartment! I'm in Dallas. Have a Merry Christmas.

  3. Sara, I so enjoyed the tour this morning! Your home looks beautiful adorned for Christmas! I love the classic colors that you chose, and I adore the way you decorated your mantel! Your home looks like such a happy, warm, and inviting place. I hope that you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!!!

  4. Your home looks wonderful. Your mantel looks beautiful with the Christmas decor. I love that wreath and those little galvanized buckets are adorable.

  5. Oh Sara, you had me at the merry & bright galvanized ornament and wreath over your mantel! LOVE this! And the red ticking banner is just SO happy! And the dining room recipe, that is really adorable! Your home is lovely, it certainly doesn't look like 4 boys live there! Your pooch looks like he doesn't really want to share the couch with anyone :) Have a jolly Christmas!

  6. Those are great pictures! It all looks great, especially that Boston Terrier! We have two and they are the best. Merry Christmas!

  7. Terrific Fixer Upper inspired decor! I also love the PB wreath and the way you added to it. Your dining room looks wonderful - I can't believe that is a towel with adhesive in a frame - great job! The festive red and green on your tree adds charm to the space and definitely speaks of "joy". I really enjoyed my tour here and am so glad you've put out some cookies and cupcakes for us!

  8. Sara, your home is filled with grace and beauty. From the mini galvanized pots to your wreath to the tree to your lovely dining room, with a recipe for being merry, I love it all. And your sleeping pooch is so cute! I enjoyed blog hopping with you this week!

  9. Wow, Sara, with a responsibility list like yours - 4 boys, 2 dogs, and a Major (!) - I don't see how you get anything done besides making food for that gang! Having said that, I'm in love with that kitchen vignette! What an absolutely brilliant idea to adhere that super cute dish towel to the frame (making a note of that idea!). Your dough bowl is outstanding, and I really love your use of the cotton bolls and red & green pom pom strands to decorate. I'm a traditionalist too, and I love red & green. Things are surely looking festive in your home, and I bet everyone is excited this year in your home. Christmas blessings to you and yours through the entire holiday season! Thank you for opening your warm home to us.

  11. Hello Sara. It’s Janet from Rosemary & Thyme. I can understand why you haven't blog much these days. We are all just too busy this time of the year and getting ready for the tablescape and holiday home blog hops kept me too occupied to blog in the last few weeks.

I have enjoyed the holiday home tour of your home. You have done a wonderful job decorating it all. I love all the festive and fun touches through out your home.
